Explanation
Altostratus clouds are mid-level, thick grey clouds that often cover the entire sky, blocking sunlight. Altocumulus are also mid-level but appear as white or grey patches, not uniformly thick. Cumulus and cumulonimbus are low-level clouds, with cumulonimbus being tall and storm-producing.
